Books used to be the ultimate source of information for board games, including backgammon.  If you were new and wanted to learn the backgammon rules, you needed to buy a book.  Not only does that take time, but it costs money.  That’s one of the great things about the internet; books are no longer the best place to find information.  Take backgammon rules for instance, all you have to do now is type that into an internet search and you’ll get hundred of backgammon blogs and sites that pop up and offer all the information you could possible want on backgammon.

This has opened the game up to people all around the world who want to play backgammon but are confused by how it’s done; after all, a backgammon board can look confusing to a new player.  And not only can you find information on traditional backgammon, but online you’ll also find backgammon rules and strategy for all types of variants; from acey-ducey to Russian backgammon, there’s a huge world of variants out there.
